Attending the United Nations General Assembly
So, at the end of July I got an email saying I would be attending the United Nations General Assembly as part of the Global Health Council’s delegation as a Patient Champion. After going through an interview process, I was informed on the 26th of July that I would be jetting to New York to speak on the experiences of MSM (men who have sex with men) when accessing healthcare.
As most of you may know I am an advocate for PrEP, Mental and Sexual Health with a focus on the MSM community but not leaving out the LGBTIA+ community. As a Patient Champion, I will be sharing how stigma affects us and how judgemental health practioners deters some of the MSM community from accessing Healthcare. I am going to represent South Africa, but I am going to represent my African LGBTIQA+ brothers and sisters who may not have a voice in their countries.
