Appeals Tribunal Report On Why It Banned Inxeba
Soooooooooo (said in my Sandton girl accent) the Appeals Tribunal of The Film & Publication Board has finally released it's report (even though it's late) on the reasons why it changed the rating of Inxeba the Wound to X18. If you don't know, Inxeba The Wound was reclassified as a porno by the FPB because of complaints by organisations I won't give airtime on my site.
I honestly forgot what I was going to write about in this paragraph, I just woke up, read this report and felt I needed to share my thoughts. I haven't been really vocal about this entire debacle as this movie is really close to my heart and I was heavily involved when I was in Cape Town by helping organise secret screenings of the movie in the townships of the City such as Khayelitsha (Bertha Movie House) and Langa (Sunshine Cinema-Solar Powered).
The reasons released by the Tribunal are BS, if we're being honest and make no sense at all coming from supposed adults.
Some of the reasons include
"That the move is degrading towards women in that there are utterances about their private parts and he asked what is the movie teaching to the 16 years olds."
I am sorry? Did I slip and wake up in a world where patriarchy aka #menaretrash actually cares about women and what is said about them? Where were these people who are suddenly vocal about women's rights when there were femicides in the country last year. "Between April and December 2016, the police recorded a total of 14,333 murders, of these, 1,713 were women. This works out to a woman being murdered every 4 hours in South Africa." but we did not see any marches to the police stations for more to be done nor did we see anything being done by these traditional leaders in educating their communities about these femicides nor were the men involved in the conversation.
Here's one of the eleven pages of the report:

All I know is, this is some BS to cover the homophobia. That's it!
